Fire
03:02
|
|||
Once there was something more
Beyond the veil of now
Almost a solid thing
It made your hopeful heart sing
Where did the fire go?
Where did your dreams escape to?
Once there were right before you
Now they’re fading
Where did the fire go?
Once it was very warm
It the midst of the storm
It was blazing
Did someone steal it?
Or maybe it flew away
When it could not find
Safety in your heart and mind
Kindle the ember,
Try to remember
Fan the flame
Say it’s name
Maybe now is the time
Maybe it’s waiting for you
Take a chance, faith and love
That’s the stuff, that dreams are made of
Don’t let the fire go
Don’t let your dreams escape you
Once there were right before you
Now they’re fading
Don’t let the fire go
It is still very warm
It the midst of the storm
Fires are blazing

Amanuensis
04:23
|
|||
When Anna was just 20,
She sailed across the sea
A world filled with adventure
A notebook on her knee
Captured every moment
Spun stories, poems, and songs
Described the world around her
With all its rights and wrongs
Chorus
Letters written home
From a distant land
Words of love and longing
Signed with her own hand
Exploring the greek islands
Or in the orient
She could live in castles
Or in a humble tent
Anna filled her notebooks
Even wrote for magazines
She witnessed so much beauty
Swirled with tragedy
Chorus
Letters written home
From a distant land
Words of love and longing
Signed with her own hand
In time she raised family
Left the wanderlust behind
But always kept on dreaming
Found adventure in her mind
Stories for her children
Stories for herself
Drawers filled with papers
And books upon the shelf
Chorus
Writes about her home
But her heart’s a distant land
Words of love and longing
Signed with her own hand
Now her days are numbered
Her hands in crippled pain
But her mind’s still spinning stories
Sweet honeyed words remain
So, I will be here with her
And I will be the scribe
I will write the stories
But she will be my guide
Chorus
Before she leaves forever
For the unknown lands
I will stay beside her
And, I will be her hands

Sowing and Reaping
03:36
|
|||
Ohhh, oh, you will reap what you sow,
You will reap what you sow when the harvest comes
Ohhh, oh, it is then you will know
it is then you will know, when the harvest comes
Henry is a Farmer and he works hard in his field
He is looking for a yield, when the harvest comes
The sowing and the reaping, the hopes of every year
They don’t magically appear, when the harvest comes
He sings,
Ohhh, oh, you will reap what you sow,
you will reap what you sow when the harvest comes
Ohhh, oh, it is then you will know
it is then you will know, when the harvest comes
Jenny cares for dying folks to ease them on their way
when they can no longer stay, and their time has come
Comforting afflicted and giving them some peace
they’re just looking for release, when their time has come.
she sings,
Ohhh, oh, you will reap what you sow,
you will reap what you sow when the harvest comes
Ohhh, oh, it is then you will know
it is then you will know, when the harvest comes
Judy was a teacher and she showed up every day,
And she worked for little pay, but she kept on trying
If she made a difference in a young child’s life,
in a young child’s life, then her work was done
she sang,
Ohhh, oh, you will reap what you sow,
you will reap what you sow when the harvest comes
Ohhh, oh, it is then you will know
it is then you will know, when the harvest comes
Some of us have entertained, angels unaware,
angels unaware, without ever knowing
The stranger and the foreigner, show them that you care
Someday you might be there, before the harvest comes.
and we sing, ohhh, oh…

Olive Cecilia
03:24
|
|||
The morning stirs you from your dreams,
before your parents rise
You think it’s time to start the world,
perhaps they’ll hear your cries
Olive, olive… Olive Cecilia
But it’s all smiles, you see their faces,
it’s better out of bed
Days begin so much the same,
But adventures lie ahead
Olive, olive… Olive Cecilia
So many new things fill your eyes,
you capture everything
After you eat, you’re dressed to go,
you hear your Papa sing
Olive, olive… Olive Cecilia
The world welcomes you, with open arms,
When they see your smiling (shining, sparkling, brilliant) eyes
They’re captured by your charms
Olive, olive… Olive Cecilia
When the day comes winding down
The sandman is your friend
Encircled by your family’s love
Where dreams return again
Olive, olive… Olive Cecilia
Olive, olive… Olive Cecilia

JImmy Grab Your Hammer
03:37
|
|||
Jimmy went to Washington, but he would sometimes fail
Frequently it seemed he had, a tiger by the tail
Sometime after Watergate, before the trickle down
An outsider seemed just the thing, in that corrupted town
Jimmy grab your hammer, there’s still work to be done
Trying to make a difference beneath that Georgia sun
Jimmy grab your hammer, the people need a home
Helping folks to find a place, who can’t do it on their own
Jimmy was a truth teller, Jimmy told no lies
Even told that magazine, he lusted with his eyes
He taught Baptist Sunday School, but he found his own way
Speaking truth to power, still something more to say.
Jimmy grab your hammer, there’s still work to be done
Trying to make a difference beneath that Georgia sun
Most of a century he’s tried,
To always let his conscience be his guide
Jimmy grab your hammer, the people need a home
Helping folks to find a place, who can’t do it on their own
So here we find ourselves again, in awfully damn dark days
Time to roll up all our sleeves, and shake off that malaise
Sometime it’s in building things, sometimes it’s a song
Let’s try to make a better world, where we can all belong
Jimmy grab your hammer, there’s still work to be done
Trying to make a difference beneath that Georgia sun

Moonchild
02:57
|
|||
Conceived under the pale moonlight
The stars aligned, and all was right
He arrived, when the moon was new
Life in cycles, ebb and flow
Ups and downs, how could we know?
Mysteries abounded as he grew
He was a moonchild
Sometimes he seemed wild
He challenged everything
we thought we knew
He was a moonchild,
Always a moonchild
Light or darkness always passing through
It took sometime to understand
The crooked path, from boy to man
The dark would often have it’s way with him
But ever-changing movements make
A guessing game left in his wake
We tried to trust, even when the times were grim
He was a moonchild
Sometimes he seemed wild
He challenged everything
we thought we knew
He was a moonchild,
Always a moonchild
Light or darkness always passing through
Hey diddle diddle
The cat played the fiddle
The boy jumped over the moon
Asleep in the hay, what can we say?
We’re just looking for little boy blue
The tide goes out but comes back in
Each ending is where we begin
to find out where, the next adventure leads
Love can cover so much pain
Hope allows us to remain
But can we change just how this story reads?
He was a moonchild
Sometimes he seemed wild
He challenged everything
we thought we knew
He was a moonchild,
Always a moonchild
Light or darkness always passing through

Heaven Only Knows
03:48
|
|||
On the edge of wilderness
Wrapped by nature’s robe
The tapestry of stars above
The spinning of this globe
When each day begins anew
there’s softness to the light
In spite all of these troubled times
There’s still so much that’s right
The beauty of this world,
the sweetness of this life,
we wonder where it goes,
but Heaven only knows
We don’t understand ,
the questions and the pains,
sometimes we’re just holding on,
to wreckage and remains.
The beauty of this world,
the sweetness of this life,
we wonder where it goes,
but Heaven only knows
Heaven only knows
Heaven only knows
We wonder where it goes
But heaven only knows
If there is a great beyond,
when this life comes to rest
Will we gaze back upon this place
Where we were once a guest?
The beauty of this world,
the sweetness of this life,
we wonder where it goes,
but Heaven only knows
Heaven only knows
Heaven only knows
We wonder where it goes
But heaven only knows
